Finalists Thursday, January 05, 2012

A new "For Pete's Sake" blog appears each Thursday on Profootballhof.com.

This time of year is a busy time for us in Canton as we prepare for the upcoming election of the Class of 2012 in Indianapolis on the eve of Super Bowl XLVI.

We take a huge step toward that this Saturday with the announcements of our finalists. They will be revealed on NFL Network’s pre-game show sometime around 1:30 p.m. ET and we’ll have extensive coverage right here on Profootballhof.com.

There will be 17 in all. Two of them we know already as they are the senior nominees – former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback from the 1950s Jack Butler, and guard Dick Stanfel who starred for the championship Detroit Lions teams of the early ‘50s and finished his career with the Washington Redskins.

The other 15 will come from the list of 26 semifinalists we announced in November. Take a look at the list and add your comments with who you would include as the 15.

10.03.11 at 1:09 pmBuggWhen King sees NBC or SI employees while in hetols, he makes out with them. As per King, it's a mark of successful organizations to be all emotional and affectionate with fellow employees every time they see each other in nonwork settings. On such basis King brilliantly determines that 2 guys who work for the Sawx failing to interact in a hotel lobby is indicative of the resulting failure. There's some logic for you. Baseball players spend practically every day together from February until October. Like any workplace, you are not necessarily friends with every other player. I would bet some NBC and SI employees do not like Peter King. It's not to say Youkilis and Ortiz hate each other.I suspect they don't, but I have no idea, but I know eitehr way it doens't matter. This story gives you no more insight. Adn whether 2 co-workers love or hate each other has virtually no impact on the success or failure of any organization. It might be better if everyone gets along, but there are plenty of examples of that not being the case in many businesses, including sports. And thia dip****sees one moment in 6 months of the 2011 season and draws a completely unsupported and meaningless conclusion.Comcast/NBC and SI/Time Warner are spending their money so wisely on this coffee-guzzling turd.
