Derrick Brooks Guest Speaks at Southern All-Star Luncheon

There are only 55 days until the Enshrinement of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2017!

In relation to the countdown to August, the Pro Football Hall of Fame salutes number fifty-five, Tampa Bay’s Legend Derrick Brooks who is gearing up to guest speak for the Southern League All-Star Luncheon on June 20 presented by The Blue Wahoos.

Pensacola native Brooks, who had a baseball background before focusing on a football career that took him from Washington High to football immortality with membership into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, will preside as keynote address speaker at the event at Skopelos at New World.

Designated as the Hall of Fame Luncheon, as part of the 41st annual Southern League All-Star game in Pensacola, the event honors selection of Tom Glavine, Tony LaRussa and Gabe Kapler as Southern League Hall of Fame.

All three men have roles in Major League Baseball and are not likely to attend the June 20 event, but Brooks provides a star power for the event. All of the players involved in the SL All-Star Game that night will be honored and in attendance at the luncheon.

“I am thrilled to be asked to be part of this historic event,” said Brooks, whose decorated NFL career landed him induction in 2014 to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

“While my body no longer lives in Pensacola, my heart has never left," Brooks said in a news release from the Blue Wahoos. "I continue to be involved in the area and look forward to more opportunities to make a difference.”
