The Pro Football Hall of Fame cordially invites you and your youth to be a part of the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival Celebration as participants in the First Play 2009 event.
The First Play 2009 event features a three-mile long human chain of area youngsters that will stretch from the Frank T. Bow Building in downtown Canton (201 2nd Street S.W.) where the NFL was founded in 1920, to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. More than 1,500 area youths between the ages of six and seventeen are expected to participate in this exciting event.
The object of First Play 2009 is to kick off the NFL preseason by tossing an official NFL football from one participant to the next along the route until it reaches its final destination, the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
First Play 2009 will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2009, beginning at 10 a.m. and will conclude at approximately 11:30 a.m. Following the event, each participant will receive a sandwich and beverage on the Pro Football Hall of Fame grounds (serving until 1:00 p.m.). All participants will also receive a First Play 2009 T-shirt, and free admission to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Thursday, August 6, 2009. Children must be wearing their First Play 2009 T-shirt to be admitted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame without charge.

Participating youth must include adequate adult supervision. First Play 2009 committee members will be on site to assist in getting youth into place as well as answer any questions, before, during, and after the event. The First Play 2009 event is not just for future NFL quarterbacks. It’s for everyone!
If you missed last year’s event, don’t be left out again. It was a terrific success and a very enjoyable experience for the young people who participated. This event was created exclusively for our area youth; let’s give them an opportunity to be a part of the 2009 Eshrinement Festival Celebration. Waiver form - Each participant needs to have a parent/guardian fill out and turn in a signed waiver form to a First Play 2009 committee member on the morning of the event.
