Class of 2010 to be announced Saturday at 5:00 PM ET on NFL Network

02/04/2010

CLASS OF 2010 UNVEILED SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 6 AT 5:00 PM ET PRIOR TO SUPER BOWL XLIV IN SOUTH FLORIDA

Final “Road To Canton” Special Features Hall of Famers Michael Irvin, Rod Woodson and Steve Young with Host Rich Eisen

In a special ceremony the day before Super Bowl XLIV, NFL Network announces the 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinees. Finalists for the class of 2010 include the NFL’s all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith, all-time leading receiver Jerry Rice, and 14 other former players and a coach.

This year features a brand new format for the Hall of Fame announcement show. NFL Network and the Hall of Fame have transformed the announcement into a lavish ceremony to celebrate the new enshrinees. The two-hour special and final installment of the “Road to Canton” series on Saturday, February 6 at 5:00 PM ET features interviews with the new members, video montages of their careers and more.

From a brand new set at the Super Bowl Media Center in South Florida, Rich Eisen hosts alongside Hall of Famers Michael Irvin, Rod Woodson and Steve Young. They will be joined by the new enshrinees and current Hall of Fame members for interviews. In addition, the special will cover the process that determines who is inducted and the toughest decisions that were made this year.

Portions of the announcement ceremony will also be available live on NFL.com.

The first-ever Fan’s Choice Class of 2010 will also be revealed live during the show. In September, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Phillips Van Heusen Corporate and JCPenney teamed up to invite fans to vote for who they believe should be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2010 with the Fan’s Choice campaign at www.fanschoice.com. More than 1.2 million votes have been cast since the program’s inception. Poll results will be revealed on the show, with in depth analysis, and a comparison to the official Hall of Fame Selection Committee vote.

WHO DAT, WHO DAT, WHO DAT SAY "RANDY" JACKSON. The unfortunate thing is that the idiot that either printed the final list or the guide who read it said RANDY instead of RICKY. How hard could it be to get it right. NFL HALL OF FAME, YOU BLEW IT. YOU STILL DON'T GIVE THE WHO DAT NATION ANY RESPECT.

Again, one of the true offensive innovators of the game is overlooked. When is Coach Don Coryell going to get the respect he deserves? The people who failed to give him their vote are idiots.

Why not Jim Plunkett? One of the best, just stays quiet, wonder if that is why he keeps being overlooked? Bronze Stature of the great QB is displayed in the San Francisco Airport in the United Terminal. Yet he is not in the Hall of Fame? Something is wrong with that. Also his coach at the Raiders, Flores did an outstanding job, they just do not seem to get the right exposure, wonder why? I have never mentioned Jim, because I thought he had to already be in the Hall of Fame. What is wrong with the voting?

RICKY JACKSON. No player deserves to be in the hall more than Ricky Jackson. Ricky helped re-define the linebacker positon in the 1980's. If Ricky had played in New York and Lawrence Taylor in New Orleans, Ricky would already be in and LT would still be waiting..like Ricky. It's unfair.

Floyd Little was (and is) my hero. This man did more for the Broncos than ANY player has. He mentored and tutored other players (even teaching them to balance their checkbooks), he ate more "rubber chicken" at youth football events and did an unbelievable amount of charity work for the community (because he wanted to not because his PR firm told him to). I’ll never forget the day in 1969 when we all showed up for our YAL “Jr. B” first game. The referees had an issue with 10 players being number 44! He was loved! This man deserves “The Hall” more than any player in Denver. I’ll be at the induction!

Smith, Rice, Sharp and Haley. The rings for those 3 total an impressive 15, then toss on top their stats and it's a done deal.

At this time tomorrow night we better see that Floyd Little has finally made it to the Hall of Fame!! For the very successful franchise that the Broncos have been it is an absolute crime that we have had only Elway enshrined!!
