Gold Jacket Andre Reed Joins American Football Without Barriers to Teach Football in Portugal

Gold Jacket and Buffalo Bills legendary wide receiver Andre Reed recently traveled to Lisbon, Portugal, for charity work. Reed, along with 15 current and former NFL players including Marshawn Lynch, DeAngelo Williams and Gary Barnidge, hosted multiple football camps for youth displaced during Portugal’s devastating wildfires in 2017.

Portugal's a very friendly place the people are very outgoing and there's actually a lot more history than you think,” explained Reed. It’s a beautiful, different culture but the country has a love of the game, including US Ambassador George Glass.”

They also participated in community events including a visit to the Albuferia orphanage.

“Obviously the kids are great to be around. For them to learn about American football is a chance of a lifetime with the cast of players we had from the NFL. We talked with them about everything from being a kid to wanting to go to college and beyond,” said Reed.

The trip was organized by American Football Without Barriers, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to globalizing American football and reaching underprivileged communities with a humanitarian message.
