Get Fit Training Camp held as part of Hall's Educational Programs

Steelers QB Charlie Batch brings students from Pittsburgh

The Pro Football Hall of Fame once again hosted its Get Fit – Hall of Fame Training Camp at Pro Football Hall of Fame Field  at Fawcett Stadium this week. The three-day camp was held Wednesday through Friday, May 20-22, as part of the Hall's Educational Outreach Program.

More than 1,400 kindergarten through eighth grade students and teachers participated. Represented were 15 schools that took part in the drills camp spread over six sessions during the three days. The activities took place on the same field where the annual  Hall of Fame Enshrinement and Pro Football Hall of Fame Game are held.

The program featured a discussion on strength training and nutrition as well as students performing physical activities similar to those at an NFL training camp. The activities were facilitated by Jon Laird, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Educational Advisory Panel and Physical Education instructor. Also helping facilitate the day's activities were coaches and players from Division II Walsh University's football team. Walsh, located in nearby North Canton, Ohio, plays its home games at Pro Football Hall of Fame Field at Fawcett Stadium. 

One of the schools that participated was joined by Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Charlie Batch.  These students were able to make the visit through his Best of the Batch Foundation which is based just outside of Pittsburgh in Batch’s hometown of Homestead, Pennsylvania.
