A record-tying 10 different quarterbacks threw for 4,000 yards during the 2011 NFL regular season. Among the group were three passers – Drew Brees, Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford - who eclipsed the 5,000-yard mark.

Brees set a new NFL single-season record with a league-leading 5,476 yards that shattered the previous record set by Dan Marino in 1984. It marked the second 5,000-yard season of Brees’ career and the sixth straight year that the New Orleans Saints quarterback reached the 4,000-yard plateau. The only quarterback with more 4,000-yard seasons is Peyton Manning (11). Brett Favre and Marino also had six seasons with 4,000 yards passing.
Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath of the New York Jets was the first quarterback in pro football history to throw for 4,000 yards in a season when he accumulated 4,007 yards in 1967. See video>>>
Overall, there have been 46 different quarterbacks who've passed for 4,000 yards in a season. The group has combined to do so 99 times.
