This comment suffices for Chris Hanburger (it's not mine but right on): "[Y]ou can count the number of guys with 9 pro bowls and 4 1st team All Pro selections that aren't in the Hall and only use 1 finger to do it. Its Chris Hanburger and no one else." There are few criteria that should be, officially, automatic-induction. I've never heard a better one than that. Stat line completed (but not needed): 9 Pro Bowls 6x All-Pro (4 1st team, 2 2nd team) 8x All-NFC 1st team 1972 NFL/NFC Defensive Player of the Year He was one of the best athletes to play the position; every time he got a pick, he ran it back for more than ten yards. I remember him in the 1972 NFC Championship game, vaulting over a STANDING lineman to sack Roger Staubach in the 26-3 win dominated by the Skins' defense. If you watched him play, you knew he should be in. I never thought he'd even be nominated, and have settled for calling him "the best linebacker not in the HOF." He may be the best player who's not in. Sounds as if Les Richter may be overdue as well. I wish he could see it, as it appears Hanburger will. Who knows? Maybe he can. Question, though. I presumed Jerry Kramer was in. To find out not brought me up short, like no other such revelation has. As a Redskins fan I just have to ask this: how can Russ Grimm (we Skins fans think Joe Jacoby should have gotten in before him) be in the HOF as a guard, and not Kramer?
