Redskins rookie record

12/27/2012

Washington Redskins placekicker Kai Forbath connected on a pair of field goals in the second quarter of the Redskins’ 27-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 23, 2012. The second three-pointer, good from 42 yards, marked his 17th straight field goal. That kick set a new NFL record for consecutive field goals to start a career.

The football from the milestone kick was promptly retrieved by a team official and earmarked for Canton to be added to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s collection. The memento (below) arrived at the museum on Wednesday.

Forbath, who played his college football at UCLA, spent the 2011 season on the Dallas Cowboys reserve/non-football injury list before being cut this past April. He was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but released before the regular season. The Redskins brought him aboard in October.
