Brown’s four-pick game

Willie Brown, the Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback who played 16 seasons with the Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders from 1963-1978, holds a unique place in the NFL Record Book. The Class of 1984 enshrinee is one of only 19 men who have intercepted four passes in a single game. 

The first to pull off the single-game “Superfecta” was Hall of Famer Sammy Baugh who nabbed four interceptions against quarterback Frank Sinkwich and the Detroit Lions on Nov. 14, 1941. Brown matched the mark 21 years later when he stepped in front of four passes thrown by the New York Jets’ Dick Wood and Mike Taliaferro. The record-tying effort helped lift the Broncos to a 20-16 victory.

The last player to steal four passes in a game was Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall who etched his name into the record book on Oct. 24, 2010 against the Chicago Bears.
