Pro Football Hall of Fame partner Coors Light today unveiled the 2009 Coors Light Press Conference Hall of Fame. Former NFL coach Herm Edwards was on hand at the museum Tuesday to take part in the event that honored six coaches from the popular commercials. Edwards, known for his legendary “You play to win the game…" rant, revealed ice-carved busts on behalf of the honored recipients of 2009.
“Over the past four years, the Coors Light ‘Coaches’ commercials have gained iconic status with NFL fans,” said Rick Gomez, vice president of marketing for Coors Light. “We are pleased to be able to honor some of our most memorable coaches and their famous rants by honoring them as part of our inaugural Press Conference Hall of Fame.”
“The Pro Football Hall of Fame is excited to be a part of honoring the famed Coors Light press conference commercials,” said Dave Motts, the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Vice President-Marketing/Operations . “The Hall of Fame is a place where NFL fans from all over come to experience the rich history of the league. Hosting this event gives us the opportunity to bring even more passion and excitement to fans and kick off another thrilling season.”
In addition to Edwards, the 2009 Coors Light Press Conference Hall of Fame includes former NFL coaches Brian Billick, Romeo Crennel, Mike Ditka, Dennis Green, and Jim Mora. The coaches were selected based on the notoriety of their rants and popularity of their Coors Light commercials with fans.
To kick off the brand’s Silver Ticket promotions, Edwards also gave away a Coors Light Silver Ticket Express Package to the kickoff game between the Steelers and Titans on Thursday, September 10.
