The Pro Football Hall of Fame and Run To You Racing are launching the first ever national Gold Jacket 5K Series. The series kicks off on Saturday April 25, 2015 as part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame (PFHOF) Marathon weekend.

“The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s mission is to honor the heroes of the game, preserve its history, promote its values and celebrate excellence EVERYWHERE. Like the Pro Football Hall of Fame Marathon, this 5K Gold Jacket Series aligns with the Hall’s mission and takes that message to fans in every NFL city,” stated David Baker, President of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“Building on the success of last year’s inaugural PFHOF Marathon in Canton, we are thrilled to celebrate excellence everywhere with 5K Run/Walk events in NFL cities with a Gold Jacket (living Hall of Famer) in attendance to support the physical fitness and carry the mission of the Hall across the country,” stated Executive Race Director Jim Chaney. “This is truly more than just a 5K race. It is a total family experience where you can walk, jog, run, or compete.”

The 5K run/walk will kick off festivities at each of the series and the fan fest will continue through the remainder of the morning. In addition to the 5K, there will be a family fan fest area with interactive exhibits, hands on skill activities, and local health & fitness organizations, surrounded by a “tailgating feeling” for runners and walkers. The 5K run culminates with a “high five finish” from a Gold Jacket and a huge finisher medallion to everyone who completes the 3.1- mile trek.

The overall man and woman finishers from each race will win an all-expense paid trip for two to the Championship Race in Canton, Ohio on Sept. 13, 2015.

The race series will be staged over the next two years. The 2015 slate includes races in Canton as well as seven NFL cities: Baltimore, Buffalo, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit and Pittsburgh. The 2016 schedule will include all 32 NFL markets. Each participant will receive a special event t-shirt and every finisher will receive the commemorative finisher ring/medallion.

Registration is now open for runners and walkers. Race details and more information can be found at www.goldjacket5k.com.
