Johnson’s shoes make it to Hall of Fame

Hall Info Published on : 1/5/2007

Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson loves the Pro Football Hall of Fame. As a fan, he has visited the Hall on numerous occasions. This past summer, the Hall was chosen as the backdrop for a special feature on Johnson in The Sporting News prior to the start of the 2006 season.

It was in the season finale that Johnson wore the shoes when he rushed for 138 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Chiefs past the Jacksonville Jaguars. The win secured a playoff spot for Kansas City.

In doing so, he also rewrote NFL history. Johnson finished the season with 416 carries to surpass the record 410 carries by Atlanta’s Jamal Anderson in 1998.

Johnson also set the Chiefs’ single-season rushing mark as his 1,789 yards in 2006 was better than the franchise-best 1,750 yards he amassed in just nine starts in 2005.

Johnson's shoes -- JAY-Z's Reebok S. Carter Football Cleats For Men - were part of the line developed by the Grammy-winning Rap star with Reebok. The shoe line began in 2001 and ended last year.
