Here are recaps of several games over the years between the Cardinals and 49ers.

November 18, 1951 – CHICAGO 27, San Francisco 21
Hall of Famer Charley Trippi led the Cardinals to upset win over the 49ers in San Francisco. He scored once on a quarterback sneak and also hooked up on an 80-yard scoring play with fullback Elmer Angsman to give Chicago the lead which they never relinquished.

September 22, 1968 – SAN FRANCISCO 35, St. Louis 17
John Brodie, who spent two nights in the hospital earlier the week with for treatment to his back, led the 49ers to a win by throwing three touchdowns. His scoring strikes of 29, 50, and 11 yards were to three different receivers – Sonny Randle, John David Crow, and Clifton McNeil respectively.

October 31, 1976 – ST. LOUIS 23, San Francisco 20 (OT)
Quarterback Jim Hart teamed up with Mel Gray on a 77-yard touchdown pass to tie the score with just over eight minutes to play. In overtime, running back Jim Otis carried the ball six straight times following a 49ers’ fumble to set up Jim Bakken’s 21-yard game-winning field goal in OT. Delvin Williams rushed for a team-record 194 yards for San Francisco.

September 14, 1980 – SAN FRANCISCO 24, St. Louis 21 (OT)
The 49ers’ Paul Hofer, who had 89 yards rushing and 135 yards receiving, tied the game on a 26-yard run, his second touchdown of the game, with just 58 seconds remaining in regulation. Then, Ray Wersching kicked the game-winner, a 33-yard field goal, at 4:19 into the overtime period.

October 24, 1993 – SAN FRANCISCO 28, Phoenix 14
Steve Young and Jerry Rice hooked up on two TD passes as the 49ers jumped out to a 28-0 lead over the Cardinals in San Francisco. Rice finished with 155 yards on 9 catches and Young totaled 247 yards passing. Steve Beuerlein passed for 322 yards and threw two fourth quarter TD passes for the Cardinals.

October 26, 2003 – ARIZONA 16, San Francisco 13 (OT)
Tim Duncan kicked his third field goal of the game, a 39-yarder in overtime, to give the Cardinals a win at Sun Devil Stadium. Marcel Shipp rushed for 165 yards on 35 carries for the Cardinals while quarterback Jeff Garcia led the 49ers with his passing and scored on 21-yard run.
