An All-America at North Carolina, Lawrence Taylor was the first-round draft choice of the New York Giants in 1981.
Taylor had a remarkable rookie season in which he recorded a career-high 133 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 8 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and an interception.
Taylor was named All-NFC ten times, elected to ten Pro Bowls, named Defensive Player of the Year three times, and was named to the NFL's 75th Anniversary Team in 1994.
LT was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on January 30, 1999 and formally inducted into the Hall of Fame on August 7, 1999. He was presented by his son, Lawrence Taylor, Jr.
