Team members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame are set to honor eleven Washington Redskins legends and Hall of Famers this Saturday night during the Redskins Alumni Weekend Gala. The Hall of Famers and alumni will be introduced during pregame at FedEx Field on Sunday prior to the Redskins facing the Minnesota Vikings.

This weekend’s celebration will be the fifth Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Ring of Excellence presentation, in the 2016 NFL Football season.

In partnership with Kay Jewelers, the official jewelry store of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, all living members of the historic and elite fraternity will receive their new Ring of Excellence that was redesigned by Kay Jewelers, in 2013.

The Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence is one of three iconic symbols that represent the exclusive status of being a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Along with the Gold Jacket and Bronzed Bust, that was unveiled during each of the Legend’s respective Enshrinements.

The Greats that are being honored include: coach JOE GIBBS (Class of 1996); cornerback DARRELL GREEN (Class of 2008); guard RUSS GRIM (Class of 2010); linebackers CHRIS HANBURGER (Class of 2011) and SAM HUFF (Class of 1982); strong safety KENNY HOUSTON (Class of 1986); quarterback SONNY JURGENSEN (Class of 1983); running back JOHN RIGGINS (Class of 1992); and wide receivers BOBBY MITCHELL (Class of 1983), ART MONK (Class of 2008), and CHARLEY TAYLOR (Class of 1984).

Most recently, the Pro Football Hall of Fame joined forces with the Centene Corporation as the Official Youth Wellness Partner of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. (Jason will link to announcement story right here…) A major contributor of bringing the two power houses together was Gold Jacket and former Redskins Legend Darrell Green.

As Green gets ready to receive his new ring on Saturday night, he shared the magnitude of the event and what it means to represent the prestigious crest of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“To be able to represent the Pro Football Hall of Fame and in my humble opinion, the prerequisite of a Hall of Famer is that you’ve done something at a high level with excellences and have been successful for a long period of time,” concluded Green.

All of these great men that will be celebrated this weekend are deeply rooted in the core values of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Commitment, Integrity, Courage, Respect and Excellence. We congratulate all eleven Washington Redskins legends and Hall of Famers, on their success, in the game for life.
