The Pro Football Hall of Fame has been the recipient of many pieces of memorabilia from Brett Favre’s spectacular career. On Wednesday, the collection of Favre mementos grew again.
The football from Favre’s first snap in the Minnesota Vikings’ 27-13 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 2 arrived at the museum this morning. As soon as the football was snapped on the game’s first offensive play, a handoff by Favre to running back Adrian Peterson for a five-yard gain, Favre set yet another NFL record. It marked the 271st consecutive start of his career. Although years ago he established the mark for starts by QB, the start in Detroit on Sept. 20 allowed him to surpass the 270 straight starts by former Vikings defensive end Jim Marshall whose ironman streak spanned from 1961 to 1979.
Favre, now in his 19th season, finished the game against the Lions by completing 23 of 27 passes for 155 yards and 2 TDs for a 115.3 passer rating.
