Coach treats Lions to “field trip”

08/19/2011

The Detroit Lions were bussing to Cleveland yesterday in preparation for tonight's preseason game against the Browns. Unknown to most of the players on the busses was the fact that they were taking a detour to Canton, located just one hour south of Cleveland.

Lions head coach Jim Schwartz had secretly arranged for the team to have dinner at the Hall of Fame and then tour the museum. The visit was a hit for the players, coaches, and team personnel as the departure time for the trip to their Cleveland hotel was extended twice.

What time were the Lion's at the Hall of Fame? My son and I were there from 12:30 to 5:00 on Thursday - in our Lion's gear, but we didn't see any familiar Lion's faces? There couldn't have been more than 30 people at the Hall while we were there - I think I would have noticed real Football players. I am a bit ticked off that no one at the Hall said anything to us about their visit. We were the only Lion's fans there. My 10 year old son was in his Matt Stafford jersey and I was in a Lion's Tee. We wouldn't have hassled them. I think it stinks that no one said anything to us. That would have been incredible for my son.
