Street Named After Orlando Pace

The city of Sandusky, Ohio paid homage to one of their native sons, Class of 2016 enshrinee Orlando Pace, on Thursday.

The city renamed Grant Street to Orlando Pace Drive. This was part of Orlando Pace Day that included a parade in honor of the Gold Jacket and the homecoming celebration.

Early this year, Pace was active with the Hall in hosting his first appearance as a Gold Jacket with Arnold Schwarzenegger. The event took place at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Youth Outreach Exhibit at the Arnold Fitness Expo, a three-day festival at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

During the event, Pace talked about the hard work it took to get to Canton.

“It’s easy to see on Sundays how hard guys are working. But it’s really those hours when nobody else is watching. Those hours in the gym, working, studying tape, studying opponent, working out – doing all those things that make you an elite athlete. Those are the things that really culminate with me when I think of what a Hall of Famer is.”

Along with the Orlando Pace Day ceremony, there will be a dedication of new playing equipment at the Orlando Pace Park and a special luncheon held by the Sandusky Rotary.
