READING THE PLAYBOOK

9 a.m. | Stark and Summit County Schools

Our local community partners and Stark and Summit County's The Divine Nine (Black Greek Letter fraternity and sorority organizations) are committed to coaching kids to an education touchdown through a “Reading the Playbook” event during the Classic weekend. This event incorporates mentors and leaders with elementary students for a time of reading and inspiring a strong first-quarter start in life.
 

COLLEGE FAIR

9 a.m. - 2 p.m. | Hall of Fame Village, Center for Performance

High school students are invited to join at least 50 colleges from across the country, including over 20 Historically Black Colleges and Universities, such as Clark Atlanta, Bethune-Cookman and Jackson State, at the 2nd Annual Classic College Fair at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

In addition to interacting with college representatives, the Fair will include live breakout sessions with college personnel presenting on the admissions process and current or former HBCU students presenting on the experience of attending an HBCU. Live sessions will conclude by 1 p.m. and the College Fair will remain open until 2 p.m. .

LET'S TALK ART @ THE CLASSIC 2022

6 p.m. - 9 p.m. | DoubleTree by Hilton Canton Downtown

LET’S TALK ART, LLC., an Ohio-based company, founded by Creative Director Rosetta Brown, in partnership with Golden Galleries owner Keith Golden, Esq. a pioneer in African American Fine Art Publishing presents “Let’s Talk Art @ The Classic 2022" from September 1-4, 2022, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Canton Downtown. The Art by Golden and Golden Galleries brand was established over 30 years ago in Memphis, Tennessee by Keith Golden. Curating collective, investment-grade, and timeless art, Golden Galleries has been a trusted partner among African American artists such as George Hunt, Paul Goodnight, David Driskell, and James Dunbar. A collection of various artworks will be on sale throughout the Classic weekend this year. Join us and Let’s Talk Art!


STARK COUNTY DISTRICT LIBRARY’S SPEAKING OF BOOKS PRESENTS: THE BLACK COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME EDITION

6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. | Canton Palace Theatre 

In keeping with Stark Library’s mission to foster community engagement, the Speaking of Book Series brings acclaimed writers to Stark County who inspire lively discussion and – at times – challenging conversations while exemplifying literacy excellence. African American pioneers and co-founders of the Black College Football Hall of Hame, James “Shack” Harris and Doug Williams, will come together with football historian Joe Horrigan, to discuss their contributions to the game of football. Gathering Black College and Pro Football Hall of Famers, leaders from Central State and Winston-Salem State universities, national, state and local dignitaries to kick off the Classic Weekend.

7 - 9 p.m. | Pro Football Hall of Fame, Nash Family Event and Conference Center

In collaboration with the Jason Taylor Foundation, bring your friends, family, neighbors and come to the mic to share your poetry, musical gifts, spoken word and other talents in a fun and relaxed environment. Open to all Summit and Stark County community members ages 14 and up.
 

THE RED CARPET AFFAIR

9 p.m. - 1 a.m. | Pro Football Hall of Fame, Nash Family Event and Conference Center

In collaboration with TKD Productions. Hey Central State! Hey Winston-Salem State! Hey Everyone! TKD Productions is rolling out the Red Carpet to welcome you to the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic Weekend in the Hall of Fame City — Canton, Ohio. Start the evening on the rooftop for a tasting event featuring jazz, food and libations that will tickle your palate. Then move to the ballroom to hit the dance floor - old school, new school, Hip Hop and R&B with "The Show", "Mr. Sweat Ya Perm Out" DJ EZ Money!!! It will be FIRE!!!!!

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY DAY OF SERVICE

Neighborhood Revitalization in Partnership with The Dive Nine. Team up with Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio for a Building Blitz morning! You'll help build and paint the garden sheds that are part of the home each Habitat family purchases. No experience or tools required—bring a good team spirit and Habitat will provide all the tools and materials needed. Huddle up and help make a difference that lasts with Habitat for Humanity! Presented by PNCThis Classic tradition was one of last year’s most exciting gatherings! Join us for a day full of fun in Downtown Canton at Centennial Plaza. Very special “must-see” appearances by Central State and Winston-Salem State universities’ marching bands.

As a part of the downtown BCFHOF Classic Fun Fest the night will be highlighted with a gospel concert featuring one of Gospel’s most legendary artists, Dove, Stellar, and Grammy Award winner, Fred Hammond. Presented by The Good Feet Store.

HBCU FAMILY TAILGATE

11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. | Hall of Fame Campus

A “Classic” tradition! Get ready for an energetic pregame experience on the Pro Football Hall of Fame campus before kickoff. The tailgate will include a must-see marching band preview as the university marching bands enter the stadium in extraordinaire fashion along with nonstop entertainment, including music, line dancing, games, prizes and a talent show.

STARK COUNTY MINORITY BUSINESS ASSOCIATION BUSINESS RECEPTION

12 - 3 p.m. | Hall of Fame Campus

Canton has been recognized as an ideal location for the development and establishment of minority businesses. The Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Stark Economic Development Board and Stark Minority Business Business Association and Stark County Moving Forward have been active in making inroads into assisting the development and expansion of minority businesses. The reception is meant to provide a business-friendly atmosphere for minority and non-minority businesses for fellowship, to exchange business cards and otherwise to meet and greet in hopes of furthering future business relations and advancing current ones.


2022 BCFHOF CLASSIC GAME, FEATURING CENTRAL STATE UNIVERSITY and WINSTON-SALEM STATE UNIVERSITY

4 p.m. | Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium

Come watch the Marauders of Central State take on the Rams of Winston-Salem State University as the two programs face off at the magnificent Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. Don’t leave your seats at halftime as the “Red Sea of Sound” from WSSU and the “Invincible Marching Marauders” of Central State put on a show for the ages! After the game, stay to see the presentation of the MVP and the trophy to the winning team.

Immediately following the game | Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium

Stay after the game to watch an exciting HBCU marching band tradition known as the Fifth Quarter: a special, dueling performance between the Red Sea of Sound from WSSU and the Invincible Marching Marauders of Central State immediately following the game that will have you dancing out of the stadium.
