NFL Power Rankings Week 16: Seattle Jumps to Top of NFC

12/18/2019

It’s the most wonderful time of the year.

As the calendar turns to the holiday season, the NFL playoffs are only two weeks away.

Everything is still up for grabs as no single team has locked in their playoff seeding.

Here are your Power Rankings for Week 16 of the 2019 NFL season.

Week 16 Power Rankings

1. Baltimore Ravens (12-2)

Last Week’s Ranking: 1

Week 16 Opponent: at Cleveland Browns (6-8)

Ten straight wins.

Consecutive AFC North titles.

The Baltimore Ravens are rolling.

Baltimore’s 42-21 win over the New York Jets on Thursday night was never in doubt, but it was a necessary step for the Ravens preferred playoff setup. With the victory, Baltimore just needs to beat the Browns next week in Cleveland to lock up the No.1 seed in the AFC.

If the Ravens finish strong, you can guarantee that Lamar Jackson will be raising that MVP trophy at the season’s end.

2. Seattle Seahawks (11-3)

Last Week’s Ranking: NR

Week 16 Opponent: vs. Arizona Cardinals (4-9-1)

Talk about a good week to be the Seattle Seahawks.

After a potentially season-shaping loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 15, Seattle bounced back with a 30-24 win at Carolina.

With the 49ers home loss to the Falcons on Sunday, Seattle jumped from the No.5 seed in the NFC all the way to the top seed. All they must do is win their final two regular season games to clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

3. Green Bay Packers (11-3)

Last Week’s Ranking: 3

Week 16 Opponent: at Minnesota Vikings (10-4)

The Packers have done everything right to put themselves into a prime position for their Week 16 matchup with the Vikings.

Green Bay has won its last three games, pushing Aaron Rodgers and company into the No.2 seed in the NFC with a one-game lead over Minnesota in the NFC North. A win over their archrivals would clinch the division for the Packers and will move them one game closer to clinching a bye week to start the playoffs.

4. New Orleans Saints (11-3)

Last Week’s Ranking: 5

Week 16 Opponent: at Tennessee Titans (8-6)

Make more room for Drew Brees in the record books.

The Saints beloved quarterback made NFL history in Monday night’s 34-7 win over the Colts as Brees became the league’s all-time leader in touchdown passes.

The game halted for a brief moment as Brees took a jog down the sidelines to thank his team, the fans and ultimately his head coach Sean Peyton.

With the victory, New Orleans keeps the pressure on Seattle, Green Bay and San Francisco to continue to perform in these final two weeks. If one of the top two slip up, New Orleans could easily jump into one of those bye week slots.

5. Kansas City Chiefs (10-4)

Last Week’s Ranking: 4

Week 16 Opponent: at Chicago Bears (7-7)

Patrick Mahomes looks to be fully healthy, making the Chiefs a legitimate contender in the AFC once again.

After missing a few games early in the season and suffering an undisclosed hand injury against the Patriots last week, Mahomes looked pristine in the Chiefs 23-3 win over the Broncos at a snowy Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

Kansas City still has a shot at the bye week, but they need to win out and for New England to lose one of their remaining two games.
