Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve Its History, Promote its Values & Celebrate Excellence Everywhere
On September 17, 1920, at Ralph Hay’s Hupmobile dealership in downtown Canton, Ohio, owners representing 10 professional football teams met, organized and formed the American Professional Football Association. The name was changed to the National Football League in 1922.
For the past century, the NFL has grown in popularity and become a fabric of our culture. On September 17, 2020, we will celebrate the National Football League’s 100th birthday in the city where it was born. A once-in-every-other-lifetime celebration will be hosted by the entire Canton and Stark County community.
The majority of the events held during the NFL Centennial Celebration will be organized and run by local volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, we would love to have you! See the information below on how to join this exciting volunteer group.
