Helping to fulfill its mission to promote the values taught through playing the game of football, the Pro Football Hall of Fame opened an exhibit titled, simply, “Character.”“We’re going to win the game; I guarantee it.”

These words, spoken by future Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath, came only a few days before Super Bowl III.

While his statement made headlines, it wasn’t coming from a place of over confidence or cockiness.

The New York Jets, heavy underdogs to the Baltimore Colts, knew they could win.

They were DISCIPLINED players who studied film and found that their schemes matched up well against the Colts.

And they were right. The Jets became Super Bowl III champions, just as Namath predicted.
