Helping to fulfill its mission to promote the values taught through playing the game of football, the Pro Football Hall of Fame opened an exhibit titled, simply, “Character.”They can be taken for granted — the people tasked with keeping the INTEGRITY of the thousands of football games played each year, some at the highest level of the sport.

Without football officials, what would the game look like?

Officials are a vital part of the sport’s success, and while players, coaches and fans might not always think officials perform perfectly every game, they are crucial and have helped make the game safer and more fair for its participants.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Art McNally sheds light on how officials see the game and their role in it.
