Educational Program Livestream: Media and the NFL

As part of a joint effort with museums in Stark and Tuscarawas Counties looking to provide educational opportunities, we are joining to present content for teachers, parents and students every Friday afternoon.

So far, the Hall of Fame Youth and Education team has covered topics from “Careers in the NFL” to “Movement and Motion” to the “History of the NFL Draft.”

This Friday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is proud to present a 30-minute Educational Program focused on what truly helped the game of football become one of the most popular sports in the world – the Media. The “Media and the NFL: America’s Game” showcases how the media’s influence started with the first ever game broadcast on TV to where we are in today’s game.

Other topics that get covered during this presentation are:

  • The influence of WW2 of the landscape of Professional Football
  • “The Greatest Game Ever Played”
  • The AFL/NFL Merger
  • “The Heidi Bowl”
  • TV Deals (Monday Night Football, Streaming Rights, TV Ratings)
  • The Super Bowl (Ratings, Commercials)

The Pro Football Hall of Fame wants to use this presentation to show just how important the media has been to the Game of Football. Without games like the “Greatest Game Ever Played” or the “Heidi Bowl,” how we watch football on TV might look different than it looks today. Not only does this presentation touch on that history, but it also focuses on the Economic side of the game. When you look at TV Deal, Ratings, trending topics, the Super Bowl, Super Bowl Commercial costs, you can see how important the game is to the economy – and vise-versa.

This video is part of an Educational video series created by the Hall of Fame’s Youth and Education Department for parents, teachers and students to help further their education from home or the classroom.
