Floor in 'Hall of Fame Gallery' Reflects Excellence

In the film “The Karate Kid,” Mr. Miyagi trains Daniel in basic martial arts techniques by repeatedly saying, “Wax on; wax off.”

For Daniel’s skills to reach their full brilliance, he eventually learns, he needs to master both moves.

Over the past several days, Operations Team members at the Pro Football Hall of Fame undertook their own version of that two-step advice and process. With help from experts at SC Johnson, they stripped away layers and layers of old wax on the floor inside the Hall of Fame Gallery and applied a fresh surface. The result, unveiled to guests Friday, reflects the excellence captured in the Bronzed Busts on display above.

The renewed floors create the perception of added depth in the room and provide a fuller effect for the new, customized LED light strips that illuminate the Bronzed Busts and the entire gallery. That lighting project was completed a few weeks ago.

The restoration projects align with the Hall’s Mission to “Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values and Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE!”
