Hall of Famer Edward DeBartolo, Jr. Organizes 49ers Reunion

On a late April weekend, old teammates and friends gathered at Eddie DeBartolo’s ranch to share memories and laughs, and to toast the iconic wideout and Super Bowl champion who’s battling ALS.

Gold Jacket Ronnie Lott as well as former 49ers teammates like Harris Barton, Dwight Hicks and Gary Plummer traveled to support Dwight Clark.

Last October the team held Dwight Clark Day at Levi’s Stadium, back when Clark could still walk, and he addressed a roaring crowd (“I’m going through a little thing right now,” he told the fans).

On Sunday, April 22nd, 27 men—former coaches, staffers and teammates—descended on Whitefish, Mont. A dozen came from the Bay Area, on DeBartolo’s private jet. Plummer and Dwight Hicks flew together from southern California. Garrison Hearst came in from Atlanta. Kevin Gogan drove seven hours from Ellensburg, Wash. DeBartolo, as always, picked up the tab.
