The second group of men inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the seven-man class of Jimmy Conzelman, Ed Healey, Clarke Hinkle, Link Lyman, Mike Michalske, Art Rooney, and George Trafton, are being honored this year on the 40th anniversary of their 1964 enshrinement.

The Class of 1964 had a lot to live up to following the 17-man charter class of 1963 which included names such as Jim Thorpe, Ernie Nevers, Red Grange and George Halas. However, the 1964 class did not take a back seat to any incoming class when it came to talent on and off the football field. Every member the 40th anniversary group played a special and never-to-be-forgotten role in pro football history.

All members of that famed 1964 class have since passed on, the last two being Art Rooney and Clark Hinkle who died within months of each other in 1988. Rooney and Hinkle were, however, were in attendance for the 20th anniversary of their September 6th enshrinement in 1984.

The Hall is pleased to extend a special tribute during the entire enshrinement celebration to the unforgettable Class of 1964.
