HIDDEN TREASURES
The Pro Football Hall of Fame's archives is home to the vast majority of the museum’s collection with approximately 90 percent of the mementos housed in this area.
"The archives is actually the ideal place for these items from a preservation aspect," commented Jason Aikens, the Hall’s collections curator. "In reality, the best thing for our mementos is for them not to see the light of day. But, nobody learns anything from them unless we share them with the public."

This is a coil that was installed into the heating system for the turf at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1967. A problem with the system caused it not to work for the 1967 NFL Championship Game. The bitter cold conditions and the poor field condition helped to make this game one of the more legendary battles in NFL history. The Packers downed the Dallas Cowboys, 21-17, to win the title in what is now known as the "Ice Bowl." |
