Tomlinson memorabilia has new home
Tomlinson's helmet, jersey, pants, and shoes along with the football he carried to set a new NFL touchdown record were given to Perry. With the completion of the new display case, the pieces are now prominently featured in the Hall's Pro Football Today exhibition area.
In 2006, LT rewrote the NFL record book by scoring an astonishing 31 touchdowns. The football donated to the Hall of Fame was the one that LT used to cross the goal line for his 29th touchdown of the season. With that score, he surpassed the single-season mark for touchdowns set one year earlier by Shaun Alexander of the Seattle Seahawks. Tomlinson finished the year with 31 TDs and 186 points to break the long-standing NFL mark of 176 points scored by Hall of Famer Paul Hornung for the Green Bay Packers in 1960.
