Following a four-year career in the Air Force, Chad Hennings played nine seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.
On Saturday, November 10, the Pro Football Hall of Fame in observance of Veterans Day will present A Salute to Our Armed Forces: A Tribute to Our Veterans and Members of Our Active Military.  As a part of the day-long recognition, any veteran or active duty member of the armed forces and their spouse or a guest will be admitted free of charge to the Hall of Fame.

Highlighting the day-long recognition of our veterans and active military will be a special ceremony featuring former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle and Air Force veteran Chad Hennings.  Scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Hall of Fame’s NFL Films Theater, the ceremony will include a special showing of GIs of the Gridiron, a short film produced by the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) recognizing prominent NFL players who served their country as members of the military.  The DAV is a proud sponsor of the Hall of Fame’s Veterans Day salute.

The first 1,000 visitors will receive this souvenir pin.
Hennings, a two-time Academic All-America at the Air Force Academy and the 1987 recipient of the Outland Trophy awarded to college football’s outstanding lineman, played in three Super Bowl victories with the Cowboys during his nine-year pro career (1992-2000).  Prior to joining the Cowboys, Hennings served four years of active duty as an Air Force pilot and flew 45 missions in northern Iraq providing relief and humanitarian aid to Kurdish refugees as a part of Operation Provide Comfort.  During his tour of duty, Hennings was awarded two aerial achievement medals, a humanitarian award, and an outstanding unit award.

Saturday’s ceremony will open with the singing of the National Anthem by Sarah Rucker, a student at Lake High School in Hartville.  The 2005 Canton Idol has sung the National Anthem at several national events including the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony, Atlanta Braves spring training games, 2005 MAC Basketball Championship, and at Cleveland Barons hockey games at the Quicken Loans Arena.

The color guard will be provided by the United States Coast Guard Station Fairport.
