Kurt Warner jersey and football added to Hall's collection
Arizona Cardinals Kurt Warner eclipsed the 40,000 career passing yardage total as a pro quarterback in a game against the New York Giants in Week 12.
The veteran quarterback connected with wide receiver Anquan Boldin on a 15-yard pass in the third quarter of the game played at University of Phoenix Stadium on Nov. 23, 2008. With that completion, Warner reached the 40,000-yard mark that includes his totals in the National Football League, Arena Football League and NFL Europe. The jersey he wore in the game as well as the football he threw to Boldin have been donated to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The mementos arrived on Wednesday afternoon and will be placed on exhibit in the recently opened Pro Football Today Gallery.
Warner has now amassed 27,514 passing yards in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams, Giants and Cardinals. That includes his 351-yard performance in Sunday’s game. In addition, Warner threw for 10,486 yards in three seasons with the AFL’s Iowa Barnstormers (1995-97) and 2,101 yards in his lone season in NFL Europe with the Amsterdam Admirals (1998).
The jersey is the third worn by Warner to become part of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s permanent collection. Two jerseys he wore while a member of the St. Louis Rams were previously added the Hall’s vast collection. The jersey from his MVP Super Bowl XXXIV performance and one from October 1, 2000 when he became the first quarterback to record two games with a perfect rating were sent to Canton shortly after the history-making moments.
