Texans Johnson tied up by Vikings

Hall of Fame receiver Lance Alworth can thank the Minnesota Vikings defense for keeping one of his long-standing records intact. In 1968, the graceful Alworth became the first player in history to string together four straight games with 130 yards or more receiving. The streak was matched a few seasons later by Philadelphia Eagles wideout Harold Jackson who finished the 1971 season with 145-yard effort and then had three consecutive 130-plus yard performances to start the 1972 campaign.

On Sunday, Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson entered the game against the Vikings with a record-tying string of 130-yard games. In addition, Johnson also was looking to break the record of three straight games with 10 or more catches, a mark he shared with Brett Perriman of the Detroit Lions in the mid-1990s and the Indianapolis Colts Reggie Wayne who had his streak snapped in Week 2 of this season.

The Vikings secondary limited Johnson to four catches for 62 yards thereby ending both record streaks. Minnesota won the Week 9 matchup, 28-21 (NFL.com Game Center>>>).

Here is a comparison of Johnson to the other record-holding receivers:
