Tebow moment

The jersey worn by quarterback Tim Tebow during a historic overtime win in the 2011 AFC Wild Card Game last January is now in Canton. The Pro Football Hall of Fame picked up the jersey this week and will place it on exhibit inside the museum’s Pro Football Today Gallery.

Tebow wore the jersey in the Denver Broncos’ 29-23 playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Jan. 8, 2012. He connected on an 80-yard touchdown pass play to wide receiver Demaryius Thomas just 11 seconds into the sudden death period. The game marked the first time the NFL’s new overtime rules for the playoffs, that were instituted in 2010, were put into effect. The play also marked the quickest end to any overtime game, regular season or overtime, in NFL history.

Tebow, who was playing in his first NFL playoff game, finished the day with 316 yards on 10 completions and threw a pair of touchdowns. His yards-per-completion average (31.6 yards) shattered the old record held by Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw (14.71) who set the mark in Super Bowl XIV against the Los Angeles Rams.

The helmet worn by Thomas on the play arrived at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in February and has been on display since that time.
