Hall Of Fame Health Announces Five Additions To Medical Advisory Board
CANTON, OHIO – Hall of Fame Health, an affiliate of the Pro Football Hall of Fame focused on bringing world-class services and solutions to former football players and their families, today announces the addition of five physicians to its esteemed Medical Advisory Board. These physicians, who include a former Surgeon General of the United States, are renowned leaders committed to the efforts of Hall of Fame Health and represent broad geographies, medical specialties and areas of emphasis.
They are
Jerome Adams, MD; Ravi Bashyal, MD, FAAOS; Nicole Christian-Brathwaite, MD; Peggy Duggan, MD; and MaCalus V. Hogan, MD, MBA.
Hall of Fame Health, which launched in early 2020, announced its initial Medical Advisory Board shortly thereafter. It includes such renown physician leaders as James Andrews, MD, and Andrew Dossett, MD, the Board’s chairman.
“This Board is passionate about the mission of Hall of Fame Health,” Dossett said. “We are honored to have these phenomenal physicians join our Medical Advisory Board and commit themselves to engaging as part of the organization and make an impact in the communities we serve.”
Adams served as the 20th Surgeon General of the United States. He previously was the Indiana State Health Commissioner and currently serves as Director of Health Equity Initiatives at Purdue University. In these roles, he has promoted public policies to promote mental health and wellness and to address substance misuse.
Bashyal is an internationally recognized and board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery at NorthShore University HealthSystem, where he is Vice-Chairman for Patient and Provider Experience, as well as Director of Outpatient Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery. He holds an academic appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
Christian-Brathwaite is a double board-certified Adult and Child and Adolescent psychiatrist, nationally recognized for her work in perinatal and post-partum mental health, trauma-informed care, telepsychiatry, mental health in communities of color, school psychiatry, implicit bias and racism in mental health. She is CEO and founder of Well Minds Psychiatry and Consulting Company, PLLC and CMO of Array Behavioral Care. She is a member of the Board of Directors of New England Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (NECCAP) and serves as the Diversity Chair.
Duggan serves as executive vice president and chief medical officer for Tampa General Hospital. She oversees the functions related to physicians and patient care at the 1,041-bed facility in Tampa, Fla., including medical staff services, patient satisfaction and quality of care measures. She also is a senior member of the breast oncology program at the Tampa General Hospital Cancer Institute.
Hogan is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and the chief of foot and ankle surgery at UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pa. He is Professor and Vice Chair in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Hogan has both passion and experience in the realm of health care policy and quality-of-care delivery. He oversees the UPMC Orthopaedic Centers of Excellence programs and serves as the Senior Medical Director for Orthopaedic and Musculoskeletal Care Services for UPMC Health Plan.
Since its launch, Hall of Fame Health’s Medical Advisory Board has assisted the organization in assembling some of the most notable organizations in the country to build its offerings, from a concierge service to help families navigate and advocate for them, to partnerships with health systems and medical groups, to assistance on insurance and benefit issues, to one of the most comprehensive behavioral health networks in the country with providers across all levels of care and including a team to assist families in times of crisis. In addition, Hall of Fame Health raises funds for those in financial hardship who can’t afford care and is developing programs that utilize the platform of football to impact and improve overall health in communities across the country.
