In his fourth NFL season, Chase led the league in receptions (127), receiving yards (1,708) and touchdown receptions (17) to earn the crown. He also led the NFL in average receiving yards per game (100.5).
In achieving those milestones, Chase became the first player in NFL history with at least 100 receptions, 1,700 receiving yards and 17 touchdown receptions in a season.
“(Ja’Marr) deserves it all,” Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow told Bengals.com. “He works really hard for it. He’s obviously a great player, great person. To etch his name in history like that is really special, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
Chase, 24, in the youngest player to achieve the triple crown since Hall of Famer DON HUTSON accomplished the feat in 1936 at age 23.
The Cincinnati Bengals donated a Ja’Marr Chase jersey to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in recognition of the achievement, and the item is on display in the Hall’s “Pro Football Today Gallery.”
