2 schools receive 'Character Grants' from Hall of Fame
The Pro Football Hall of Fame presented two Stark County schools with grants Thursday in conjunction with the Hall's yearlong "Character" exhibit.
To be eligible for a "Character Grant," a district was first asked to send students to the Hall for a class field trip that included immersion in character-baseed discussions and artifacts. The disctricts could then apply for a $2,500 grant to start or expand a character-based program in one or more of their schools.
On Thursday, representatives from Canton McKinley and Canton South high schools were presented with $2,500 checks for each school.
Members of the Hall of Fame's Youth, Education & Leadership Team were on hand to explain the mission of the "Character" exhibit and why the schools were chosen for the grants.
Additional awards are planned for the fall months when more schools visit the museum and engage with "Character" exhibit content.
