A pink penalty flag used by head linesman Steve Stellijes during the Week 8 matchup between the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets is now part of the Hall of Fame’s collection. The penalty marker was donated by the National Football League.

The NFL adopted the idea of using pink flags from fifth-grade student Dante Cano. The 11-year old wrote a note to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suggesting the idea of using pink penalty flags as part of Breast Cancer Awareness month (NFL.com: Referees to throw pink flags).

Dante and his family were on hand to present the flags to the officials prior to the game.
