Hall of Fame tackle Dan Dierdorf was saddened to learn of the recent passing of former Pro Football Hall of Fame Executive Director Pete Elliott. The two had enjoyed a long friendship over the years. Elliott, whose brother “Bump” coached Dierdorf at Michigan, served as an assistant coach with the 1978 St. Louis Cardinals on which Dierdorf was a veteran leader. Elliott was the Hall’s Executive Director when Dierdorf was enshrined in 1996.

Dierdorf was disappointed that he was unable to attend Elliott’s funeral in Canton earlier this month due to his television broadcast responsibilities. He served as the color analyst for the Baltimore Ravens win over the Denver Broncos in the AFC Divisional Playoff Game.

Last week, Dierdorf and his wife Debbie were in Ann Arbor, Mich. where Elliott was laid to rest. So, the couple took time to pay their respects to Elliott who was an All-American star for the Wolverines and later inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
