The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2008 – Fred Dean, Darrell Green, Art Monk, Emmitt Thomas, Andre Tippett and Gary Zimmerman – will be formally enshrined into the Hall on Saturday, Aug. 2.

This year’s class of enshrinees is a unique mix of football greats and now brings the total number of those enshrined in Canton to 247.

Here’s a perspective on the class with some footnotes and quotes.

Quotes…

"As it's getting closer, we're all getting nervous. It will be just like my last performance." –Andre Tippett

"I've been accused of being quiet and of not being a man of many words, that's just who I am. I speak when I feel there is a need to. And I'm so speechless right now. I'm not sure what to say right now." – Art Monk during teleconference minutes after his election to the Hall of Fame in February

Notes…
