A Colorado man is going to the Super Bowl courtesy of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and GateHouse Media.

“I still can’t believe it,” said Steve Frank of Canon City, Colo.

Frank is the grand prize winner in GateHouse’s National Sweepstakes partnership with the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He receives two tickets to Super Bowl LI, the spectacular Hall of Fame Merlin Olsen Super Bowl Luncheon featuring 80-plus Hall of Famers and other NFL legends, the Hall of Fame’s pre-game tailgate party, airfare and hotel accommodations.

"For many years, The Canton Repository, one of GateHouse Media's Publications in Ohio, has had a longstanding relationship with the Pro Football Hall of Fame and this year we have been able to build on that great relationship by partnering for our first National Sweepstakes,” said Rebecca Capparelli, executive director of promotions for GateHouse Media. “This partnership awarded a great VIP Trip for two to the Super Bowl and Reader interest was HUGE with over 100,000 entries! When we called the winner, Steve Frank....he could not contain his excitement. He is a big football fan and he couldn't wait to tell his son that they are going to the Super Bowl and all of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's VIP events.”

“The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Mission is to Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values and Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE,” Brock Richards, the Hall of Fame’s Vice President of Marketing & Sales commented. “The Hall is pleased to play a role in providing a great experience for Steve Frank and his son as they celebrate this great game. Football is a wonderful way for a father and son to bond and I’m sure this trip will provide memories for a lifetime.”

Frank said a friend had told him about the promotion and he decided to give it a try. He entered once a day during the last three days of the promotion.

“I just thought it would be cool to win a helmet,” Frank said, with a laugh. Each week during the length of the promotion, mini-autographed football helmets valued at $300 each were given away. When he received the call that he had won the grand prize, he was shocked.

“There’s no way I would be going (to the Super Bowl) if it wasn’t for this,” Frank said. “This is one of those bucket list things.”

Frank is taking his son on the trip. “He gets to go to the Super Bowl and I get to stay home with the grandchildren,” Frank’s wife Sheila jokingly added.

Although he is a Denver Broncos fan, Frank is hoping to see the Atlanta Falcons beat the New England Patriots on Feb. 5 in Houston.

VIP Trip to the Daytona 500

Following the success of the football promotion, GateHouse Media has launched a new national promotion.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring great prizes like this to our readers and we are now running another great national promotion that will award a VIP Trip to the Daytona 500,” Capparelli said.
