The Saints go marching on

10/24/2011

The New Orleans Saints blew out the Indianapolis Colts 62-7 on Sunday Night Football during Week 7 action. The 62 points marked the most ever in a single game by the Saints as well as established a new high for margin of victory.

Prior to Drew Brees and company's offensive explosion on Sunday, the most points scored in a game by New Orleans came during a win over the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 24, 2008. New Orleans put 51 points on the scoreboard as Brees threw 4 touchdowns in a 51-29 win.

Thanks Michael, I see that now. Very glad I got to witness a bit of history last Sunday! Although I've been told I watched Super Bowl XXVI as a one-month-old (and have been watching football ever since), my oldest concrete football memory is the Music City Miracle, which for a Bills fan like me is one that's quite forgettable.

Evan: The article clearly says this is the most points scored in the REGULAR season for each team. That's why Chicago's 73 pts from the 1940 NFL Championship is not included.

Why aren't the 1940 Bears listed as having beat the Redskins 73-0 in the 1940 NFL Championship?
