The 1930s

The First Playoff Game - this historic game in 1932 between the Chicago Bears and Portsmouth Spartans brought about numerous changes to pro football.

 1933 NFL Championship Game - several members of the Hall of Fame played key roles in the NFL's first championship game.

The First Thanksgiving - the tradition of a Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit began in 1934 after the Portsmouth Spartans relocated to the Motor City and became the Lions.

Davey O'Brien  - this 5'7", 151-pound quarterback was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1939.

The First Televised Game - the NFL's first televised game came on October 22, 1939 when NBC broadcast the game to a limited number of homes in New York City.
