The National Football League kicks off its 93rd season on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 as the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants host the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium. The traditional kickoff opener is slated for Thursdays but this season’s game was moved because President Barack Obama will be speaking as the Democratic National Convention on that night.

The game between these NFC East rivals marks the first time the NFL has held a regular season game on a Wednesday in 64 years. Here’s a look at the NFL on Wednesdays.
