Hometown Hall of Famer™ is a national program that honors the hometown roots of the greatest heroes of the game with special ceremonies and plaque dedication events in local communities.

“I’ve never played a down of football in my life, but I do know how special this place was to our Dad,” said Alexa Stabler Adams, daughter of Ken Stabler. “Foley was home. Foley gave my Dad the skills to perform at the highest level. It gave Dad the relationships that carried him to Tuscaloosa, to Oakland, to New Orleans, to Houston and ultimately, back here.”

“Ford Motor Company is proud to join with his family and friends in recognizing the late Ken Stabler in his hometown of Foley. Both Ford and the Pro Football Hall of Fame are committed to excellence and have a deep appreciation for legacies,” said Richard Moyer, President of Moyer Ford.

Stabler was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the second round of the 1968 AFL-NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama.  “Snake” was a 15-year NFL veteran with the Raiders, Houston Oilers and New Orleans Saints.  In 1974, he was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player and NFL Offensive Player of the Year and two seasons later led the Raiders to victory in Super Bowl XI. The four-time Pro Bowl selection led the Raiders to six AFC championship games and was named to the prestigious NFL 1970’s All-Decade Team. Stabler was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this month.

Friday’s event was the 105th Hometown Hall of Famer™ ceremony. Other Hometown Hall of Famer™ events included: Brett Favre (Hancock HS in Kiln, Miss.); Charles Haley (William Campbell HS in Naruna, Va.); Jim Langer (Royalton HS in Little Falls, Minn.); Larry Little (Booker T. Washington HS in Miami, Fla.); Ronnie Lott (Eisenhower HS in Rialto, Calif.); Art Monk (White Plains HS in White Plains, N.Y.); Fran Tarkenton (Clarke Central HS in Athens, Ga.); Roger Wehrli  (King City HS in King City, Mo.).

“The Pro Football Hall of Fame deeply appreciates the Ford Motor Company for making the Hometown Hall of Famer™ program possible. Tributes like Friday’s celebration of Ken Stabler allows us to fulfill our mission to Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values & Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE,” stated George Veras, the Hall’s Executive Vice President, Chief Revenue Officer & Executive Producer.
