“Greater” Nationally Released Starting Aug. 26

“Greater,” the film about Brandon Burlsworth who is considered as the greatest walk-on in the history of college football, will open nationwide Aug. 26. The movie had a successful exclusive premier at the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this year.
 
The new film chronicles the inspiring life of the late All-American Burlsworth who was a small-town boy that wasn’t deemed good enough to play Division I football for the University of Arkansas, features Neal McDonough, Nick Searcy and newcomer Christopher Severio.
 
Besides being a walk-on in 1994 for the Razorbacks, Burlsworth became a three-year starter on the offensive line and the All-American was the only student athlete to graduate with a Master’s degree in four years.
 
Burlsworth was tragically killed in a car accident just 11 days after he was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts, inspired and touched so many lives that came in contact with him.
 
The Pro Football Hall of Fame had an opportunity to premier “Greater” in the Event Center back in Jan. 16 to a sold-out crowd. After the event, Hall of Fame Executive Producer George Veras moderated a discussion with Brandon’s brother Marty, Gold Jackets Aeneas Williams, John Randle and by phone Bill Polian. They were all moved by Burlsworth’s story.

Williams, Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2014, is no stranger to being a walk-on at Southern University knows the importance of perseverance and faith.
 
“It parallels some of my story which is a walk-on,” said Williams. “Brandon walked on as a freshman, I walked on my junior year. I was drafted in the third round; Brandon was drafted in the third round. This story will be told and impact not just kids on college campus, but throughout the world because of belief and having enough fortitude to walk out your belief.”
 
Also, another person how was inspired by Burlsworth’s story was former Indianapolis Colts head coach and his Sr. Bowl head coach Tony Dungy.
 
“Everybody in the Colts organization took, we have to have the same attitude Brandon has,” said Dungy before he was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2016. “Live every day to the fullest, work as hard as you can and treat people the right way because you don’t know if you’re going to see them again. Brandon didn’t play a long time and didn’t have a ten-year pro bowl career but he’s remembered in Indianapolis for the type of person that he was and what he brought to that organization.”
