Gonzalez record ball lands in Canton

History Published on : 10/21/2008

A six-yard reception in the opening quarter of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 5 game against the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 5 is all Tony Gonzalez needed to become the NFL's all-time leader in reception yards for a tight end. The football caught by Gonzalez that day to surpass Shannon Sharpe in the record books (pictured below) has arrived at the Hall of Fame and will be placed on exhibit.

Gonzalez is no stranger to the Hall of Fame as mementos from his record-setting career can be seen throughout the museum.
