JCI Enshrinement Week Volunteer Opportunities

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE DURING 2019 ENSHRINEMENT

 

FIRST PLAY STUDENT COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP

WHERE: Along the 3-mile First Play route from downtown Canton to the steps of the Pro Football Hall of Fame

DATE: Wednesday, July 31st

TIME: 8:30 –11AM

WHAT: First Play students are asked to check-in and arrive 30 minutes prior to the time they are scheduled to pass the football.  While waiting for the football, students will have the opportunity to donate their time back to the community and participate in a clean-up activity at their designated area along the First Play route.  The clean-up activity will consist of picking up and disposing garbage in the trash and recycling bins nearest to them.

YMCA YOUTH CHARACTER EDUCATION & BAG PACKING EVENT

WHERE: Eric Snow YMCA

DATE: Wednesday, July 31st 

TIME: 1 –3PM

WHAT:  This event will engage 200 (pending) youth from the Dr. Leonard King youth group and former NFL linebacker, Shawn Curable. It will take place at the Eric Snow YMCA where attendees will participate in a series of character-building activities, including assembling youth health and wellness bags for underserved local youth, as well as a Character Education Talk with Inside Out leadership, Shawn Crable, and a Gold Jacket member.

SE COMMUNITY CENTER BAG HAND OUT AND NFL PLAY 60 CLINICS

WHERE: South East Community Center,1400 Sherrick Rd SE, Canton, OH 44707

DATE: Thursday, August 1st

TIME: 12 –2PM

WHAT: Health bags will be distributed at the South East Community Center in downtown Canton to ~500 youth residents from nearby SMHA housing units.  Youth attendees will be divided into two groups of 250. Each group will rotate between two activities, consisting of a community clean-up at nearby housing authorities and an NFL PLAY 60 Clinic at the Community Center, led by USA Football coaches. The Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons will be present at the event, as will former NFL linebacker, Shawn Crable.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB HANDOUT AND NFL PLAY 60 CLINICS

WHERE: Boys and Girls Club of Massillon, 730 Duncan St SW, Massillon, OH  44647

DATE: Friday, August 2nd

TIME: 1 –3PM

WHAT: Health bags will be distributed at the Boys & Girls Club of Massillon to ~500 youth residents from Stark County.  Attendees will decorate rocks with inspirational messages to be placed in the Boys & Girls Club community garden and there will be an NFL PLAY 60 Clinic led by USA Football coaches and a Stark County high school football team. While the youth are participating in these events, volunteers will be doing a planting project in the community garden. The Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons will be present at the event, as will former NFL linebacker, Shawn Crable.

ENSHRINEMENT CEREMONY

WHERE: Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium

DATE: Saturday, August 3rd

TIME: 7pm –10:30pm

WHAT: Opportunity to provide transportation for local youth to attend the Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony on Saturday, August 3rd. Providing transportation to the Ceremony will allow local youth the opportunity to witness the Class of 2019 as they are enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Transportation would include seven round trips for 1,200 local youth and chaperones.
