Marvin Harrison sets single-season record
Jersey added to HOF collection

Harrison_jersey_thumbJan. 16, 2003 - Indianapolis owner Jim Irsay personally sent the jersey worn by record-breaking wide receiver Marvin Harrison to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The memento is from the Colts' thrilling 28-23 win over the Cleveland Browns on December 15. In that game, Harrison set the NFL's single-season record for receptions. He finished the game with 127 catches on the season as he surpassed the total of 123 by Herman Moore of the Detroit Lions in 1995.

Harrison's yardage total from the game also put him over the 1,500-yard receiving plateau making him the first player in history to record 1,500 yards receiving in consecutive seasons.

Harrison continued to add to his season total and finished the year with 143 receptions for 1,722 yards, and 11 TDs.

The NFL record for receptions in a season now reads:
143 - Marvin Harrison, Colts (2002)
123 - Herman Moore, Lions (1995)
122 - Cris Carter, Vikings (1994)
122 - Cris Carter, Vikings (1995)
122 - Jerry Rice, 49ers (1995)
119 - Isaac Bruce, Rams (1995)
