Browns to honor newest enshrinee

There are three physical icons associated with an individual being elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame; the enshrinee’s bronze bust, the gold Pro Football Hall of Fame jacket, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame ring.

The most visible of the three icons is the bronze bust which is unveiled during the Enshrinement Ceremony and then placed on permanent display in the Hall of Fame Gallery.  The gold Pro Football Hall of Fame jacket is presented to the new class of enshrinees at the gala Enshrinees Dinner held in Canton on the eve of their induction.  The third icon, the Pro Football Hall of Fame ring, is presented to the new enshrinees at their home stadium during a regular season game.   As a part of the presentation, the newest enshrinee will be donned in his Pro Football Hall of Fame gold jacket and accompanied by his bronze bust.

The first ring presentation to a member of the Class of 2007 will occur during Kickoff Weekend.  The Cleveland Browns will honor Hall of Fame guard Gene Hickerson during the pre-game coin toss of their home opener against division rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday (NFL.com Game Center).  Hickerson will then receive his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring during a special halftime ceremony.  Adding to the distinctive nature of Hickerson’s ring presentation is that the Pro Football Hall of Fame has agreed to include the bronze busts of the other 15 Cleveland Browns Hall of Fame members as a part of the ceremony (Photo Gallery - Cleveland Browns HOF Busts).

Ring presentations for the other members of the Class of 2007 are scheduled as follows:
Thurman Thomas - Oct. 8, 2007
Michael Irvin - Oct. 14, 2007
Roger Wehrli - Oct. 14, 2007
Charlie Sanders - Nov. 22, 2007
Bruce Matthews - Dec. 2, 2007
